The 14th Annual Awards banquet for the Thomasville-Thomas County Sports Hall of Fame. General Lloyd J. Austin III played some football, but really focused on basketball during his high school career. He was voted as captain of his 1971 Thomasville High Basketball team, where he played as a rebounder and defender.

In 2013, General Lloyd J. Austin III was selected to act as the Commander of the United States Central command. General Lloyd J. Austin III retires in 2016, and ends his long, and incredibly successful 41 year army career.
