First Black minister to join the all-white Ministerial Alliance in Live Oak, Florida in 1962. Owned and operated Ellis Fann and Sons that was a residential and commercial contracting business.
Rev. Dr. Sherman has pastured since 1961. His accomplishments include: American Men of Science, Outstanding Young Men of America, Outstanding Personalities of the South, Marquis' Whos' Who Among Community Leaders of America.
Rev. Spaulding was the first Black preacher in Thomasville to preach on WPAX radio broadcast once a week for 7 years during the 1950s.

Ochlocknee Missionary Baptist Church, first built on the corner of U.S. 319 and Trinity Road (Now the Mercy Seat Road) of Grady County, Georgia. The present building located 2.3 miles south of Mercy Seat Rd. on 319 was constructed on land that Lula Reid Hadley sold to the church for $25.
